Meeting Summary

The Mesa Chamber Technology Committee met virtually on February 12 to discuss upcoming projects and events for the committee this year, as well as updates from Chamber members.

Jared Bodine with AZ StRUT reminded the committee about the upcoming eWaste Collection Event at the Mesa Chamber on March 12, 8:00 am – 1:00 pm. The Chamber will be hosting a collection for electronics at their new office (40 N. Center) for you to bring your old electronics to be donated to AZ StRUT. Bring in that old computer, the monitor in the corner you replaced, the drawer of old cables, or even that flat-screen TV. To see a full list of electronics you can donate to AZ StRUT, visit their webpage here.

Diane Meza provided updates on behalf of Maricopa IT Institute about their free workforce professional skills courses available to everyone (students, employees, employers, etc.) online. The program has also built stacked credentials related to cybersecurity. They are asking for a small group of employers in cybersecurity fields to come in person and review the credentials on February 20th. For more information, contact Diane at diane.meza@domail.maricopa.edu.

The committee will not hold a virtual meeting in March to focus on the eWaste Collection Event at the Chamber. If you plan to bring a donation, please register for the event here.
