Lights On Program

The Mesa Police Department is now participating in the Lights On Program, to better-serve the community. With the initiative to improve police and community relations, there will be safer cars on the roads in Mesa and less stress for Mesa police officers.

About the Lights On Program

The Lights On Program provides a new approach to a societal problem by creating positive interactions between communities and law enforcement. Instead of punishing drivers for broken lights, drivers receive assistance. Police officers give drivers a free voucher to get their broken light fixed at participating auto shops. Local auto service providers donate labor to fix the bulbs. Meanwhile, the program coordinates all administration and fundraising.

How it Works:

Participating law enforcement officers hand out vouchers to drivers with burned-out headlights, taillights, brake lights, or turn signals.
Drivers redeem the vouchers at a participating auto shop.
The driver’s bulb problem is fixed FOR FREE (up to $250) and Lights On! reimburses the auto shop for their costs.

Auto Shop Details

Auto shops must be full-service repair providers.
Auto shops are to service anyone who arrives at their facility with a Lights On! voucher, in as timely a manner as possible, and with no appointment required.
Auto shops agree to conduct no up-selling at that time.
Lights On! covers all bulb repairs up to $250, including jobs that require additional labor or expensive bulbs, at predetermined rates.
Upon completing the repairs, auto shops mail the invoice, voucher, and customer survey to Lights On! and are reimbursed within 10 days.
