The January 2024 Mesa East Valley Technology Council (EVTC) virtual meeting provided plentiful updates and new program information to keep businesses on track with the industry. Important topics discussed included: The Mesa Business Builder Small Business Assistance Program, a Web Design and Development Advisory Council, an internship Stipend Program sponsored by Bank of America, and changes to the Google Business Profile program.

Starting off with an overview of the Mesa Business Builder Small Business Assistance Program provided by Kelley Keffer with the City of Mesa. The program provides FREE professional consulting and advising services to small businesses in Mesa. The City of Mesa has partnered with Mesa Community College to provide participants of the Mesa Business Builder Small Business Assistance Program with a wide variety of classes for improving their business. Diane Meza, Committee Chair and Director of MCCCD Information Technology Institute (ITI) at Mesa, introduced two new opportunities for businesses in the community. The Maricopa ITI invites you to join their Web Design and Development Advisory Council on February 21st for an opportunity to network and find good talent. Diana also introduced the council to a program Bank of America is sponsoring for students completing an unpaid internship in a related field. Find more information here.

Kevin Frost, with Standing360, discussed a new change to the Google Business Profile program which may affect businesses in Mesa. Beginning March, previous business sites built by the program will shut down. However, small businesses are welcome to seek assistance about web presence from the Mesa Business Builder Small Business Assistance Program.

Forthcoming for the Council, Chamber staff liaison Bob Nelson proposed an in-person networking event with the group. The date is still to be determined.
