Aster Aging is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that offers various programs. From Meals on Wheels to in-home support and social services, Aster covers a variety of senior needs.

Additionally, Aster has two social hub centers in Downtown Mesa and Red Mountain. These hubs help support seniors through lunch meals, wellness support, educational programs, and activities. A few activities mentioned were painting, tai chi, dance, Wii sports, and chair yoga.

Jacob then provided information on the upcoming 2025 Spring Healthy Living Expo. This Expo focuses on promoting wellness and healthy living. Two expos will occur on March 21 – from 8:00 to 11:30 am – at the Red Mountain Senior Center and on March 28 – from 8:00 to 11:30 am – at the Mesa Downtown Senior Center. There are opportunities for businesses to attend the event as an exhibitor. More information on this is available here.

Following the presentation, the group received subcommittee updates from the Mental Health Subcommittee and Dementia Friendly Mesa Task Force.

The Mental Health subcommittee will meet on Wednesday, January 29, to discuss a few agenda items including Mental Health Day at the Capitol, PSA filming dates, and mental health webinar topics and panelists. Any interested committee members can reach out to staff liaison Mayra Leon Sanchez to receive more information or invites to future meetings.
